I love trying new things and this project was a first.  In our basement bedroom, when we finished it, I decided I was tired of the carpet look and didn’t really want hardwood in there.  So, we used concrete stain to finish this floor then added a shag area rug.  I LOVE the different textures together.  The stain comes in many colors and can be used on concrete floor that has been pretreated with an agent that removes the sealer contractors use.  It was really fun to apply and it creates a really unique look.  It is a great option if you are going for a different feel in the room.  It can be a much less expensive flooring option also, so if you are finishing a basement and are on a budget, this is a great way to go.

It is one of those “box of chocolates” experiences though, you never know quite what you’re gonna get!  All the blemishes and marks in the concrete come out different and it adds a lot of character to the room.  Isn’t this pretty?  It would be a perfect choice for a craft room, playroom, back entrance, downstairs kitchen, etc.  I simply love this floor.
